NASA is planning to send astronauts to Mars for a 30-day mission and is seeking public input. The expedition will be a two-person mission, according to the space agency.
The mission's goals would be to demonstrate the viability of living and working on Mars' surface. This would necessitate optimising operations and establishing command, control, and coordination on both the moon and Mars.
The creation of a transportation system that can consistently operate from the Earth-moon vicinity to Mars orbit and the Martian surface is one of the mission's science objectives, according to the announcement.
According to BGR, for the trip to succeed, scientists will need to figure out a way for humans to breathe while on Mars, even if that means using long-term equipment.
Astronauts will also have to spend months in microgravity, while on the surface, NASA advises a pressurised rover.
According to the space agency, the mission might launch in the late 2030s or early 2040s, depending on technological advancements at the time.
